Meet our coaches
Kerry Dudley, MBA
founder, Executive coach & mentor
Kerry’s story…
“There’s little point giving you a pay rise, Kerry. One day you’ll meet and marry a man, and you won’t need any of this!”
I was met with this in my annual appraisal in my early 20s, while working my way up in the insurance industry in London. (Yes, it’s a true story).
And as much as things have improved dramatically since then, women still face many challenges working in financial services today. With my lived experience, I now get a huge kick out of helping women fulfil their career potential.
My years working in a male dominated industry luckily had a happy ending when a successful businesswoman took me under her wing.
Her revolutionary suggestion (it was the 1990s!) was to find a role where I could use my strengths in a company that had similar values to my own - and that’s exactly what I did.
So I jumped the fence from reinsurance broking into underwriting and worked for NRG London, and then for St Paul Re, as part of a very successful International Property team. Travelling extensively across Europe, South Africa and the Caribbean, I was respected in the market and one of only a few senior female reinsurance underwriters at the time.
But despite my success, I lacked self-confidence, even turning down a significant promotion to lead a big business. (I know!)
Working with a brilliant coach, I realised my ‘fixed mindset’ thinking (inherited from my parents) was a big blocker. I learned it’s normal to feel scared when we take on new challenges (and by the way this happens at the top too!) but with the right support we develop new capabilities and grow into bigger roles.
This knowledge inspired me to gain my MBA from Henley Business School before retraining as an executive coach at Cambridge University. This is the job I now love!
I get fired up about supporting and developing women in Financial Services. Using my 20-year business experience and understanding many of the challenges women and mums face, I founded Parity Executive Coaching together with professionals Henny Flynn and Imtiyaz Foolat, who also had long successful careers working and leading in insurance.
We work with individuals, organisations and industry networks (WIBF, GIN, TWIN) and through coaching we can help you Get the job you want, Feel you deserve it and Love doing it!
The result? Happier, more successful women and organisations who retain their valuable female talent: a win-win all round.
